COMATOSE PATIENT.

First and foremost,what is coma,coma is the state of deep sleep of
a person,and a person that on the state of coma called comatose,and
from Greek name koma.


Causes of coma
-------------------

  1. intoxication,such as overdose.
  2. Strokes
  3. traumatic injuries,such as head trauma,due by falls
    or vehicular accident or collision.
The responsibilities of a caregiver with a comatose patient,is really
tough duties,and a caregiver must possess huge of patience pack,
within.


Duties and task in daily routine as a caregiver with a comatose patient.

  1. Feeding
  2. bed bathing
  3. diapering
  4. Avoiding or preventing the patient from catching
    bedsores,
  5. changing position every four hour,from side left and right
    then back .
  6. Reporting any unusual signs,to the nurses and doctors.
  7. bedding’s
  8. hygiene
  9. maintaining the side railing on bed to prevent the patient
    from falling.


Medical treatment by the hospital staff.
  1. intravenous fluids or blood, and other supportive care as needed.
  2. Ventilation



If the patient is out of danger,routine treatment by nurses.

  1. Providing balance nutrition for the patient
  2. physical therapy treatment,in prevention of orthopedic
    deformities,that would limit the recover of the patient
    in state of coma.
  3. Preventing infection,such as pneumonia,due to patient
    inability to swallow that may cause aspiration,or also
    from feeding tube.
  4. Pulse rate monitoring.
  5. Blood pressure monitoring.
