First and foremost,what is a walking stick? A walking stick is a stick for balancing
purposes while walking,walking stick is usually used by people with disabilities
due to some illnesses,and walking stick also commonly or usually used by most
elderly people,the walking stick helps the senior or elderly person to obtain the
balance while walking.
What would be the responsibilities of a caregiver with a walking stick user elderly or senior patient.
- As a caregiver,you must always stay closer at the side of the elderly patient where
the walking stick is located,or where the patient holds the walking stick. as thisside where the walking stick, is the weak side,so stay closer at all times to theelderly patient side, where the walking stick is located,while walking.
- elderly or senior patient with a walking stick,as a caregiver your responsibilityis to stay closer at the side of the elderly patient where the walking stick is
located,and hold the elderly patient waist on the opposite side from where
you're standing,and your other hand will hold the shoulder of the seniorpatient which is where the walking stick is located,or where the hand of
the senior patient that hold the walking stick while walking,this is becauseusually elderly or senior patient has a weak legs due to their age.so byapplying the simple method, by holding,its safety for the elderly patient.

- Avoid the elderly patient to walk in any wet floor surface,this will preventthe elderly patient from risk of slipping and any unwanted injuriesby falling,due to slippery wet floor surface.
- Maintain the holding of the elderly patient, and by staying closer to theelderly patient side while walking.
- Avoid any obstruction ahead of the way of the elderly patient,if there'sany obstruction, shift the elderly patient way to where the even surfacefloor area,or flat floor surface, for safety walking of the elderlypatient.
- Always look ahead for any obstruction on the way or floor whilewalking,always lead the way for the elderly patient to walk on safetyfloor surfaces.
AS A CAREGIVER,ALWAYS BE RESPONSIBLE AND PRESENCE OF MIND
AT ALL TIMES WHILE WALKING WITH THE ELDERLY PATIENT WITH A
WALKING STICK., BE AT ALL TIMES STAY CLOSER AT THE SIDE OF
THE PATIENT WHERE THE WALKING STICK IS LOCATED, AND
HOLDING THE PATIENT TO THE SHOULDER AND WAIST, THIS
SIMPLE WAY,CAN PREVENT ANY SLIPPING OF THE PATIENT OR
FALLING,AND FREE FROM ANY UNWANTED INJURIES,SPECIALLY
FOR THE ELDERLY PATIENT THAT HAS A WEAK BONE,AND
INJURY DUE TO SLIPPING OR FALLING CAN CAUSE A SERIOUS
